Now Vine in HD Picture Quality!

By Ali Raza | News , tech

Good news! Now you can make your vines in HD result as the Vine has brought another option for Viners in shape of 720p video quality. Everyone has a mobile with camera (video camera probably!) and love to make different kind of videos. If you’re on Twitter then you must have heard (or seen) about Vines that people make to interact in more advanced way with each other. (Remember? That muted video clip of 2 to 15 seconds!) Back on 27th of March, Mike Kaplinskiy (Project Manager at Vine) announced this new feature in his recent blog post.

As per Mike, Viners would be able to make vines in HD quality by choosing 720p option while uploading it to the site. The technical support is planning to upgrade the system to a higher level that would enable the users for this enhanced way to create a vine. This picture below demonstrates how this would change the way of making vines by taking it to the better picture quality.

Vine HD Resolution

This would simply enhance the experience for viewers and let them enjoy their favorite vines with better results. Although 480p is not a bad option but who doesn’t want better instead of good? For instance, if it’s about your regular fun stuff then it’s okay even with 480p picture quality but with 720p you can share your message in HD result.

Where this news is bringing joy to millions of Viners, there are some drawbacks that may sadden you once you read it. The 720p option is available only for iPhone users at the moment all over the globe. Hold on for a sec! If you’re thinking there is nothing much for you to read in this post because you have an Android or Windows phone then you’re wrong. According to Mike, the technical support is in process to make this service available for more platforms like Android and Windows phone etc. Sounds good isn’t it? So cheer up and wait until they open this service for more platforms. This would take probably a month or two to them for making this option available for other platform (Not guaranteed though!)

Vine was started back in 2012 as part of Twitter’s initiative and now they are expanded over 1.5 billion loops all across the globe. People can create looping vines in different manner like comedy, routine life or it can be a breaking news kind of short video. The concept fascinates the viewer of interested videos being repeated (what they say Loops).

All you need is a mobile phone with good (video) camera and an internet connection to share your life, thought or feelings with people. And guess what? You have a large audience to share with your creativity or simply a message. Great! Isn’t it?

The Vine app is free to use and requires you to register an account (which is also free). Vine app can be downloaded on iPhone, Android or Windows phone from the internet. Get the app, create an account and start sharing your vines with world now!

Windows 10 comes with a real start menu FINALLY

By Osman | News

Microsoft finally came to their senses and brought back a real start menu and it looks even nicer than previous Windows start menus.  I like how they added some of those apps from the start screen onto the right side of the start menu.  When I first installed the technical preview of Windows 10, I was worried that once I click that start button, I would be taken to a start screen, but luckily a start menu popped up. Microsoft Windows is the number 1 product Microsoft has ever made.  I think Office comes next, and when Windows 8 arrived. It was full of annoyances.  The biggest annoyance was the lack of start button which made people wonder why Microsoft would destroy such an amazing product with such annoying features. Windows 10 start menu In Windows 8 and 8.1, I got the impression that Microsoft was being copy cat of Apple when I noticed stuff like Airplane mode, opening pictures etc makes the default apps load as if it they were loading an app on a smartphone (they purposely delayed loading certain apps like PDF, pictures, music etc) to give the user a feeling that they are opening an app just like on a smartphone.

Initial charge S5 battery

Are you worried about how much you should charge the Galaxy S5 initially?  I have had an S3 and an S4 before and all I did for first time is charge it to 100 percent then when it got low to 20 percent I charged it up to 80%. Like a Prius car I kept charge at 80% Max which they say extends battery life. You can read my long article of the S4 regarding this first time charging matter. Best thing you can do for your S5 or any kind of device with a battery is to charge it less often.  This also is true for LG G3.

The less often you charge the longer it lasts, even Apple says that. Some people say you should keep it charged for 16 hours the first time but I find that wrong. I get great battery life and when I don’t do stuff that is data intensive or call people frequently, I notice that my battery life is 3 days without recharging.

Initial charge S5 battery

Older batteries of the past required lots of charging the first time, but modern battery technology doesn’t require that.

You should only completely discharge your battery and charge to full every 45 days. You can ensure your battery doesn’t die out quick by getting rid of apps that eat up battery life like Tango.  Tango actually sends messages to all your contacts without your permission so make sure you keep an eye on your apps, and look at your battery stats to determine which apps are using the most battery.

You don’t wanna end up buying a new battery too soon (and believe me, batteries for high end phones like HTC One M8 or Galaxy S5 are getting expensive). Also, you should avoid charging your phone overnight.  Even though modern phones come with electricity cut off after battery is full, I still would not leave it in charger past 100%.

Are you annoyed by that auto-correct feature in Samsung phones like the S5 that auto corrects words you don’t want corrected?  People who type in other languages often want to turn off the auto correct feature.  Here is a video that shows you how.  The video is for the S4 but it is the same method for all Touchwhiz Samsung devices.  The below screenshot is one I took on Galaxy S5.  This also works for the S5 Mini.

Go to Settings > Language and input > Samsung Keyboard > Predictive text, turn it OFF.
