Get more downloads to your android or ios app game
Oct 04

App shout promotes your app or mobile game for you so you can sit back and relax.

By Osman | tech

You’ve made an app or game for iOS or Android game and you want to get more downloads but don’t know where to start. The old saying of “If you build it, they will come” doesn’t really apply to apps as much as it does to something like a Cafe Shop where people can just walk right into. You have to put hard work into getting your App or Game known so it can get downloads and go mainstream. Here is where App Shout comes in. It does all that hard work for you and for reasonable fees. I myself have a few games and apps up on Google Playstore and think this service will benefit me greatly.

If after following these steps and you are still experiencing issues, please contact Fitbit Customer Support.

fitbit Ultra

First, make sure:

  1. You are attempting to sync with a supported device. You can see the latest list of supported devices, please go to http://www.fitbit.com/devices.
  2. You are using the latest iOS software version. You can Verify by going to Settings > General > Software Update to check for updates.
  3. Make sure you enable Bluetooth in iOS.

Troubleshooting

The below troubleshooting steps are straight from Fitbit itself. If your tracker is still not syncing to a supported iOS device, complete the following steps:

  1. Restart your tracker. See How do I restart my tracker? for instructions.
  2. After your tracker has restarted, reboot your iOS device and then open the Fitbit app to initiate a sync.
  3. If you’re still having trouble, set up your tracker as a new device by following the instructions in Setting up your tracker with the Fitbit app for iOS. Note that if you have not synced in over 24 hours, your activity data for previous days will be lost and only today’s data will remain.

Note that Fitbit mobile syncing works best with iOS 7.1. If you would like to improve Fitbit mobile syncing, please update your iOS to the latest version by going to Settings > General > Software Update. (Current version of iOS is 8 as of writing this article.)

Apps that are better than their official counterparts

By Osman | tech

Third-party apps are often some of our favorites. Here are some third party apps that are better than their official counterparts.

Jasmine

Jasmine youtube player app alternative Jasmine is a YouTube app for both the iPad and iPhone that looks fantastic and has a few handy features that set it apart from the official YouTube app. Jasmine offers an absolutely gorgeous YouTube viewing experience on the iPhone and iPad that even the official apps can’t compare to

Twicca

Twicca alternative Twitter app Twicca is a fast, free, full-featured Twitter client for Android that proves iOS doesn’t have a complete lock on beautifully designed apps. The app’s been in beta since last year, even though it works flawlessly. Many people have never heard of it because all information for the app was in Japanese at first. It wasn’t until the Android Market entry for twicca was translated to English that people outside Japan began downloading it in droves.

Metrotube for Windows Phone 8

Metro Tube Youtube player Windows Phone 8 A stylish Youtube app for Windows Phone. A great YouTube player. The only problem is the age filter. Even if you are signed into your account on this app, it will not play any videos flagged for viewers being 18+. They should really fix it.

Press instead of Feedly

Press reader Feedly alternative Press is a simple and elegant RSS client for popular syncing services. It’s fast and clean, giving you the freedom to enjoy your favorite news.

We designed an app that we want to use and hopefully our attention to detail will be evident on every screen. Follow us on Twitter @25Squares

Construct2 vs GameMaker vs GameSalad vs Stencyl

By Osman | techlivewire

Game development software
I’ve bought Construct2 and it is a great 2D game design application, it is very easy to use. I have also used Gamesalad and it is also a very easy game design software to use.

Construct2 is affordable at just $119, and would be perfect if only it had the capability to export Native android APK’s. The problem with Construct2 is it relies too much on HTML5. Anything you export is going to be HTML5 and when you build your app via PhoneGapp or anything else, your app will be limited to using the default android webview in order to display the HTML5 content. I would recommend getting GameMaker or GameSalad. Personally GameSalad is what I would recommend over all of the other Game design software because it is the most affordable. With Gamesalad you only pay a one time fee of $299 or $150 if you are a student and you never have to worry about a recurring yearly fee which other Game design software like Stencyl charge.

YoYo Gamemaker is by far the hardest one to learn and it’s pricing is outrageous. You have to pay different fees to publish to different Appstores like Apple App store or Google Play

GameMaker, GameSalad and Stencyl all build your app in the Cloud.

Generate an iPhone app for your website

By Osman | techlivewire

Do you want convert your whole website into an app? If your website is responsively designed, then a user won’t even know the app they opened is actually a website. I made 3 apps for my 3 responsive websites using www.Appery.io Appery is so easy to learn, you can make a splash screen for your app and more. Here is how to turn your whole website into an app and download the iOS app or Android app. All we need is a Javascript redirect to make the app itself. The only line of code in the whole app that you will make is this. window.location.replace(‘http://www.yourwebsitenamegoeshere.com’);

The great thing is it can run it’s own Javascript inside the app which allows me to do this redirect trick.

1. Register for Appery.io and create a new app. Get yourself familiarized with Appery.io because I won’t go too much into how to use it, but I will teach you here how to make an app for your site.

2. After you start a new project, you can choose app icons and splash screen images from the appSettings page on the top left side, under projects. If you click iOS binary you will be able to upload images for splash screen and icons. Make sure you upload PNG or it won’t go anywhere. Make sure you use transparent PNG image for icon to make app icon look great on mobile device.

3. On the left bottom side you will see a Javascript folder, go ahead and make a new Javascript code page and paste that code I showed you above (replace yourwebsitenamegoeshere with your actual website you want to make the web app for.

window.location.replace(‘http://www.yourwebsitenamegoeshere.com’);

4. Anytime you do something make sure to hit save although I have noticed the web panel saves things for you automatically. Make sure to edit permissions and uncheck any permissions you don’t want the app to have for android.

You will notice your app size increase in megabytes as you add photos and other stuff and this is perfectly normal. Apps can reach big sizes so don’t be surprised.

You are now ready to export your app for iOS or Android as soon as you add your icons and splash images. You can hit the test link on the top right corner to test your app on different screen sizes. If your website is responsive, your app should display well on all device screen sizes automatically. Below is a screenshot of the 3 apps I made for my websites techlivewire.com Tech News app, Recipe Types recipetypes.com app and Wise Baby Names wisebabynames.com app. When you want to download the .IPA iOS version of the app from Appery, you gotta specify keys and certificates before you can download it. The android APK doesn’t require you to specify keys or certificates. Alternatively you could just use http://www.makeapk.com that does everything I just talked about instantly but for android only and it generates an apk online. The downside to Makeapk.com is you can only choose one of their icons.
