Ten games for the PlayStation 4 do not work on the upcoming PlayStation 5. Among others Afro Samurai 2, Hitman Go and Shadow Complex Remastered do not do it on the new console. Some PS4 games get better graphics through the Game Boost feature.
In total, there are ten games with which the PlayStation 5 is not backwards compatible, Sony writes in an update around that topic. These include DWVR, Afro Samurai 2 Revenge of Kuma, TT Isle of Man – Ride on the Edge 2, Just Deal With It!, Shadow Complex Remastered, Robinson The Journey, We Sing, Hitman Go Definitive Edition, Shadwen and Joe’s Diner. Those are the only games Sony mentions for now. The company reiterates that ‘the vast majority’ of PS4 games would work on the PS5.
Sony does warn that “some features” of the PS4 games don’t work on the PS5, though it doesn’t mention examples. “In addition, some PS4 games may exhibit errors and unexpected behaviors when played on the PS5,” the company said.
Some older games would also run smoother and with a higher frame rate on the new console, writes Sony. That’s because of the PS5’s Game Boost feature, but Sony doesn’t write about which games are the exact ones.
